Orchestral Conducting

Mr. Muelling has served as a conductor throughout many places in his career. To the left is a recording of him conducting Reena Esmail’s Concerto for You as a partnership between his students in Phase 2 at Community MusicWorks and the MusicWorks Collective (2024) for the 21st Century Orchestra Festival at Brown University. To the right is a recording of the finale of the 2023 End of Year Gala at Community MusicWorks, featuring current and former members of the CMW Daily Orchestra Program.

Classical Performance

As a classical musician, Mr. Muelling has been on many stages. To the left is the Songs of Refuge concert of the MusicWorks Collective (2022), on which he performed on the violin. While teaching in Kodiak, AK, Mr. Muelling made a tradition of performing a classical recital each year. To the right is a recording of the second recital (2016), on which he performed viola and cello.

Classical Composition

Mr. Muelling has a strong interest in composition for both practical and concert situations. Below are two recordings from his composition recital given during his undergraduate education. The first piece, It Is You, is written for a 10 section viola choir. This recording includes 4 violists per part, resulting in a spectacle of 40 violists performing together on stage. It is written in dedication to the composer’s mother, who is also a violist. The second piece is called Egg, and it is an unlikely duet between a flute and a bass drum. Both of these recordings were created live in front of an audience.

The next recording is a soundtrack which Mr. Muelling composed, scored, and recorded for a student/faculty multimedia project at the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh called War: Through Their Eyes, Warriors and Nurses Volume II. All of the instruments in the recording were performed by Mr. Muelling. For his music's part in the project, he received a Citation for Excellent Service from Chancellor Richard H. Wells as well as an official Commendation from the State of Wisconsin presented by Governor Scott Walker, Representative Gordon Hintz, and Senator Jessica King.

Commissioned Songwriting

Besides a wide variety of classical compositions, Mr. Muelling has also worked as a self-recording songwriter. To the left is an episode of Cabin Fever Crafting as published by the Kodiak Arts Council, for which he wrote and recorded a jingle and transition music (2021). To the right is a recording of a theme song requested by a keynote speaker for a technology symposium. The lyrics were created by the speaker, and Mr. Muelling wrote and recorded the music as well as appeared in the music video.
